CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR NEW WINDOWS AND DOORS

Label and tape adhesives should be removed with alcohol-based cleaners on small areas only. After this is removed, thoroughly wet the glass and rinse with plain water.

Glass can be cleaned with regular or other ammonia-based cleaners.

Vinyl products can be cleaned with a solution of mild soap and water. For heavier cleaning tasks, the window manufacturer recommends commercially advertised household cleaners. Use any non-abrasive cleaner for tough jobs. DO NOT use solvents, abrasives particles, paint removers or sharp objects to clean your windows or patio doors.

Condensation on window is caused by excess interior humidity in your home. It is your responsibility to control your home’s relative humidity. There are a number of steps you can take to reduce condensation on your windows. Such as:

  • Shut off furnace humidifier
  • Make sure attic louvers are open
  • Run ventilating fans longer and more often
  • Ventilate entire house briefly once a day

The color of your Galkos vinyl windows and doors is solid throughout. Painting is not required and will void the warranty.

Normal lubrication is not required. Under normal operating conditions, all moving parts are self-lubrication. Rollers are made for long-lasting, trouble-free performance. However, to ensure longevity of your new windows and doors, or, if you live in an area where your home is constantly subjected to soot, sand, or dirt, be sure to keep the tracks clean.

Tracks should be cleaned with a small, stiff, nylon brush. If necessary, an occasional light coat of spray silicon on the spiral balance shoe track of a double-hung window and the tracks of a horizontal slider will help ease the operation of your windows without leaving an oily residue which can collect more sand and dirt.

All movable sash products travel in tracks. The tracks are exposed to the outdoor elements and abrasive materials such as grease, leaves, and other particles can become trapped in the track. If not removed, these can be ground into the window and the hardware when you operate the sash. A semi-annual cleaning is recommended.

Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for safe use and any chemical or solvent. Any cleaning information is suggested to assist you. The window/door manufacturer assumes no responsibility for results obtained which are dependent on the chemical solutions as prepared and the quantity and the method of application.

CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR TEXTURED COATING

Your textured coating will give your home years of maintenance free beauty and protection from the elements. The only normal care you might choose to exercise would be to use a garden hose to rinse the surfaces down every 1 to 2 months or so. There is a possibility that dirt, dust or smog have been allowed to become imbedded into the Textured Coating. The following cleaning solution is effective for cleaning the surface should it be necessary.

3 oz. (2/3 Cup)  TriSodium Phosphate (TSP)
1 oz. (1/3 Cup)  Detergent such as Tide
1 qt.       5% Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorox)
 3 qt.      Warm water

Use this solution without diluting to remove dirt and mildew. Best results are obtained by scrubbing with a medium soft brush. When surface is clean rinse thoroughly with fresh water from a hose.

Thereafter, a monthly hosing with an ordinary garden hose should be sufficient to keep your Textured Coating quite clean.
